These rules govern participation in Trova il Tesoro treasure hunts. By taking part, you fully accept the rules described here.
Trova il Tesoro is a pure skill contest: the first to complete the chain of stages wins, based on skill and speed. There is no draw and no element of luck in awarding the prize.
Participation is reserved for adults (18 or older) with a valid account and truthful data. Each person may have only one account. Compliance with these requirements may be verified at any time and, in particular, before the prize is delivered (see “Identity and age verification”); failure to comply results in exclusion.
Entry requires paying a €10 participation fee for each hunt: every hunt has its own ticket and there are no season passes. The fee grants the right to take part in that single hunt; the clues provided are transparent aids, equal for all participants.
The first participant to validly scan all the hunt's NFC tags, in the required order, thereby completing the chain of stages, wins. A scan is valid only if performed on site, with the physical NFC tag left in place where it is, and accompanied by a GPS location within the stage radius and an authentic selfie. Remote scans, duplications or copies of the tags are not allowed.
In case of close times, ranking is determined deterministically by the completion time of the last stage and, in case of a tie, by the registration identifier. No outcome is left to chance.
Falsifying location, using inauthentic selfies, tampering with tags and any form of deception are forbidden. Anyone who moves, removes or tampers with an NFC tag is disqualified. Violations lead to disqualification; in that case the winner is recalculated automatically in favour of the next valid participant.
Each hunt's prize equals 10% of the registration fees collected for that specific hunt, calculated gross of payment fees (that is, on the full amount of the registrations, without deducting transaction costs), up to a maximum cap set for each hunt, which may differ from one hunt to another; the page of each hunt shows the maximum amount as “up to €X”. Only valid, paid registration fees for that hunt count towards the calculation, not purchases of hints, characters or other digital content. The prize amount is frozen, becoming final, when the hunt starts, which coincides with the close of registrations: from that moment the prize pool no longer changes, regardless of any later events.
Once the organisation has confirmed the outcome, the winner is contacted at the email address registered on their account and has 14 days, from the sending of that message, to reply and provide the data needed to deliver the prize (the payment details and, if requested, the documentation referred to in the sections below). Failure to reply within the deadline, or failure to provide the requested data, results in forfeiture of the prize: in that case the prize is awarded to the next valid participant, under the same completion and tie-break criteria; if there are no other valid participants, the prize is not awarded. Forfeiture for failure to reply is distinct from disqualification for misconduct, but in both cases the prize passes to the next valid participant.
Before the prize is delivered, the organisation asks the winner for a valid identity document proving their identity and that they are of age, to ensure that the participation requirements are met (in particular being an adult and having provided truthful data). If the winner does not provide the document, or if the check shows that they do not meet the requirements (for example because they are a minor or provided untruthful data), they are excluded and the prize is awarded to the next valid participant. The document is processed solely for verification and delivery of the prize, in accordance with the privacy policy.
The prize is paid by bank transfer to an account held by the winner: to receive it you must therefore provide a valid IBAN in your own name. Payment is made within 30 days from the moment the winner has fully provided the delivery details and any required documentation, and the related checks have been passed. Any taxes, duties or reporting obligations relating to the prize remain the winner's responsibility, in accordance with applicable law (see also “Tax obligations”).
Any disputes about the outcome of the hunt or the award of the prize must be communicated to the organisation, through the email address shown on the site, within 14 days of the winner being announced; after that period, the outcome is deemed accepted. The organisation examines the disputes received, also on the basis of the completion evidence (scans, GPS location and selfies), and communicates its decision, which is final for the purposes of these rules. The consumer's right to turn to the competent authorities remains unaffected in any case, as provided by the “Governing law and jurisdiction” section.
Any taxes, duties or reporting obligations relating to the prize are the winner's responsibility, under applicable law.
Participation requires a selfie at each stage, stored privately and used solely to verify the contest, deletable on request. The legal basis for processing is the performance of the participation contract.
The search takes place in the field and under the participant's responsibility, who must act prudently and respect places and rules. The organisation is not liable for force majeure or participants' negligent conduct.
The rules are versioned. In case of substantial changes, a new acceptance will be required before continuing to participate.
These rules are governed by Italian law. Any dispute is subject to the court of the consumer's place of residence, where provided by applicable law.
